So this is the first week I had official days off, and instead of two I got a bonus third which I wasn't expecting. And as it turns out Alaska has turned me into a reader and I read just about an entire book today. A real tear jerker, "Where the River Ends.". That is the second book I've finished and I'm just getting started.
I also joined Mark on his ride north today, he is the park janitorial staff. We stopped at north view, which is slowly becoming my favorite place in the park. Since it was hailing on my last visit there I wasn't able to do much exploring, but today the sun was peeking out and I was able to. I hiked back to the remote campsites; what an amazing secluded view! I also discovered a native plant walk, which could use some sprucing up so I am going to talk to Jason about that! North view doesn't have the best view of Denali, but it is still gorgeous and less touristy. Mark said its one of his favorite places too.
I capped off my day by sitting in the sun and then cooking one of my favorites; shake and bake pork chops. I also cut up a fresh pineapple. Good story there; when I was shopping I saw the attractive sign that said on sale $1.29 and I was like wow that's incredible for pineapple do I bought it. Much to my surprise I missed the per lb part of the sale sign, good thing I like pineapple, because it cost me $7! Lesson learned for this greenhorn Alaskan ;)
