North

So today was supposed to be 56 with 80% chance of rain, but it was more like 64 with some clouds and some sun around 8pm When the rain arrived! A nice day to do some power washing haha! So if you hadnt already guessed that is what I did today, power washed Vets Memorial to prepare for the ceremony on Sunday.
After work I joined Jason on his rounds of the park. We went all the way north past the park boundary to a campground owned by Chulitna DOT, but they want DSP to take it over. Tonight was probably the most entertaining night since I've been here. I love listening to the scanner of the Mat-Su borough when riding in Jason's truck, the things people call in remind me so much of back home I can't help but laugh. From kids racing four wheelers to neighbors getting drunk and shooting guns! On our rounds we stopped at all the pulls off owned by the park; scenic outlooks, hiking tails, campgrounds and even gravel pits. Jason shared his stories of the things he has seen and the people he's come across; I'll leave those up to you to think about. We flashed the lights at speeding people, since rangers have all the same power as troopers up here! We chatted with people and had few laughs, all while listening to some Eric Church, can't think of a better way to spend my night!

I sleep with my window cracked every night so I can enjoy the birds and other animals. I noticed that the loons and trumpeter swans have returned to Byers lake, even though the ice isn't out! Still no complaints here, even the skeeters haven't got to me yet. But the summer is early and time is flying by so I am just going to enjoy it and be grateful for the experience.

I received a long awaited package from my parents today! New work pants, coffee mug, snacks and two People magazines. It definitely capped off my amazing day! Thanks mom and dad <3

I took some pictures on my camera and will probably just keep doing a large upload every week or so, but I'll try to write every few days, as long as there is something to talk about. Some people have been asking about the prices of various items and I'm going to check next time I go to the store since I didn't pay close attention last time. Feel free to ask any questions, either here or email me at ldascanio1@une.edu
